On a particularly hot day in June 2019 the annual Tatar folk festival “Sabantui” took place in Leipzig. Artists and visitors from the surrounding area, from Tatarstan and other distant places came together to experience one of the most popular holidays of the Tatars. Classically, the “Sabantui” is celebrated when the sowing in the fields is finished. The games were supported by volunteers from different cities in Germany. One focus was also on the children’s project, where the children were kept busy with numerous games. In addition, numerous playful duels were also offered for the adults, e.g. the egg run. The focus was on the presentation of Tatar culture and music on stage and the gathering of guests.
